Krita AI Diffusion is a GPL-3.0 open-source plugin for the Krita painting app that adds Stable Diffusion / Flux-based image generation: text-to-image, inpaint, outpaint, refine, live painting, ControlNet/IP-Adapter guidance, regions, and upscaling to 4K/8K. It runs on a ComfyUI backend. Users can let the plugin auto-install a managed local ComfyUI, or in the Configure > Connection tab choose "Custom Server" and paste any ComfyUI API URL to connect to their own local or remote/cloud-hosted backend (e.g. a self-hosted box, RunPod, or RunDiffusion). The author also offers a first-party managed cloud, Interstice Cloud, as a pay-as-you-go token option for users who don't want to run GPUs themselves.

How your API key is handled

Your API key is stored locally on your device. Requests are sent directly to the AI provider. Because it can be self-hosted, your key never has to touch a third-party backend.

Open settings, paste your provider API key, choose a model, and start — the key stays on your device.
