Page Assist is an open-source (MIT) browser extension that adds a sidebar and full web UI for interacting with AI models from any webpage, including web-page-aware chat and document/RAG-style retrieval. It targets local models first (Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp, Llamafile, vLLM, Chrome AI/Gemini Nano) but also supports any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Users add providers via Settings to an "OpenAI Compatible API" tab, choosing from a large dropdown (OpenAI, Anthropic/Claude, Google AI, Groq, Mistral, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, Together, Fireworks, xAI, Hugging Face, and many more) or "Custom" to enter an arbitrary API URL plus their own API key. All data is stored locally in browser storage with no telemetry. Available on Chrome, Brave, Edge, Firefox, Vivaldi, Opera, Arc and other Chromium/Firefox browsers.

How your API key is handled

Your API key is stored in your browser's local storage. Requests are sent directly to the AI provider.

Setup

Open the extension/app settings, paste your provider API key (kept in your browser), and pick a model.
